Winter’s Wrath - Part Deux

It has been 7 days since the 200K in KY, and I am anxious to get to the Ohio 200k. I guess I was naive to think that winter was over with and I would have plenty of time left for training. Looks like winter had other ideas, blizzard warnings where issued last night. The storm dropped about 14 inches total, GLOBAL WARMING MY BUTT!! However I still don’t mind as I had a good time with the girls today.

I spent some time enhancing this blog also.

Enjoy the pictures….

$25 Bike Stand

This is a simple and cheap bike repair stand that can work just about anywhere. I got the original idea from the Instructables website. The complete build instructions, plus user discussion can be found here. I chose to build a stand as opposed to buying one because my cash was short from a recent shopping spree. (Brooks B-17, Carradice Barley, Minoura Swing Bar, 2 Lights). The plan is to use this for a while and purchase full size version later as cash comes available.

Winter’s Wrath

7 days to go until the first major ride of the year, a 200K KY Brevet organized by Steve Rice, Louisville Bicycle Club. I am so ready for it, NOT! I haven’t even sit on a bike in nearly two weeks! Not that I haven’t wanted to mind you, just it has been kind of hard to in Central OH because of this:
WinterWrath

WinterWrath2

So much for hoping for a mild February to get in some good outdoor training miles. Regardless, I still plan be in KY early March 1st ready to go! Hopefully I will not be found along side of the rode in the fetal position wondering what the hell I was thinking later on that day. Worse case, I figure I could become a candidate for some type of Darwin award. See, there is good in everything!

These start of the year rides are the ones I guess we all tend to guage ourselves by, the ones we look at the end of year and marvel at how well we have improved, or how bad we lost site of our goals. Even though they are usually not the highlight of one’s season, they are usually always remembered.

Hello

My name is Ed, thanks for visiting! I am in the process of building this site to document and share my cycling obsession. This site is still a work in process so check back frequently for changes. Since it is still winter here in Ohio, and still a couple of weeks away until my first Brevet of the year in KY, I am focusing on getting in some indoor and outdoor miles and getting the site ready.

More to come as the site is developed.
